Brian Johnson - Executive Pastor
Brian and Renee Johnson are no strangers to Church of the Open Door. From 1995-2000, the Johnson’s lived in Avon, and attended Open Door while he practiced law in the Cleveland area. He taught an ABF while here and was elected for the Leadership Board, but declined in order to move to Columbus. They created many great memories at Open Door; two of their three children were dedicated here, they made life-long friends here, and – most important of all – Brian says that God used this faith community to draw them closer to Him, to challenge them in their faith, and to deepen their commitment to Christ.
After moving to Columbus, Brian joined the pastoral staff at Heritage Christian Church, Westerville, OH, a growing church of about 3,000. As a part of the Executive Team, Brian has served the church as Associate Pastor, Administrative Pastor and Executive Pastor. Brian graduated from Wheaton College in 1989 (B.A. in History), Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 1992 (M. Div.), and the University of Notre Dame Law School in 1995 (J.D. cum laude). Brian maintains an Of Counsel relationship with the Columbus law firm Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP where he is a member of the firm’s Business Litigation Practice Group and focuses his attention on mentoring and training junior associateattorneys. Brian has been married to his wife Renee since 1990 and they are overjoyed (and sometimes overwhelmed) by their two daughters Kylynne (11), and Brynna (9), and son Andrew (7). The Johnson’s live with Cocoa the black lab, Lizzie the spotted gecko, and Domer the hamster.
