Gary Worzel, Maintenance
Job Description:
My position is in the maintenance department, under the direction of the facilities manager, with the responsibility of maintaining all of the systems in our church and school. We have to be jack of all trades to keep this building up and running, from maintaining all the heating and cooling systems down to the smallest of maintenance items that need to be done to keep our church and school in top shape. Describe your family: My wife, Cindy, and I have been happily married now for six years and live just around the corner from the church. We feel that the Lord has blessed us beyond what we deserve and wake up each day with a feeling of awe and wonder at his presents in our life and the beautiful world around us. Cindy survived an automobile accident in 1983 and wasn’t supposed to walk or talk again but the Lord worked miracles in her life and she is a testament to Gods love. She still suffers with short term memory but is beautiful on the inside and out. My two daughters from a previous marriage are all grown up and out on there own. My oldest, Casey, is married and living in the Cleveland area, and Jen is living near her hometown in Hampton New Hampshire. How do you spend your time when not at the church?
We spend most of our time working on and around our house that my friend and I build over the last several years. It will probable never be finished but we keep picking away at it. Last year we put in our lawn. This year we started huge gardens and plan to do a lot of canning and freezing of vegetables. One of my passions is to read and study the bible. The lord has broken into my life, in a big way, and has changed me from the inside out. He made my hearts desire to follow him wherever he may lead. A big part of our life is our commitment to our life group. I have led a group for over ten years and have just recently started a new group at our home here in Amherst TWP. When I’m not busy ( Ha, Ha ), I try to keep up with some of my clients and their home repair projects. Also, Cindy’s family has figured out that I know how to do one or to things. Background information:
The Lord has given me over the years a varied and odd combination of construction, aviation and management experience. As a young teen my passion was to be a professional pilot. I had earned my commercial and instrument pilot ratings while still in high school and attended an aviation college, Daniel Webster College, in Nashua NH. In college I found I already knew the material in the pro- pilot program and switched to a business curriculum. I graduated with an A. S. in general studies and went to work as a Flight instructor at a small airport north of Boston MA. Over the years I had opportunity to work for many different charter and airline companies including stints with Air New England, Provincetown Boston Airline, Bar Harbor Airline and Continental Express Airline, to name a few. My flight log shows over 11,000 hours of flight time with stints as line check airman and Management positions with two different airlines. There were two times when I took a break from the flying career. Once for a five year period when I bought and operated a construction company on Cape Cod. The other was when I lost my medical certification for flight, after which I worked in the construction field for twelve years building houses, additions and doing all kinds of home improvements. With this recent down turn in the economy work dried up and I found a position at the Ford Motor Company casting plant until the Lord opened this window of opportunity to serve him at the Church of The Open Door. |
