Michelle
Michelle Meares, Director of Childrens Ministry

Job Description:

My role is to develop, implement, and oversee all the programming for the Children’s Ministry and to ensure that it is working within the overall mission of the church to lead people in the adventure of becoming like Christ. Our ministry teams up with parents to strengthen and grow up believers with the philosophy that two combined influences are greater than one.

Describe your family:

I have been abundantly blessed with an incredible friend and husband Larry for over 17 years. To know Larry is to love him as he is the most genuine, honest, funny, hard-working, loving, compassionate man I know. We have three daughters who bring us immeasurable joy; Jordan; 16, is easy-going with a great sense of humor: Gabi; 12 is high-energy and a social butterfly: Anabelle; 4, is also high-energy (where do they get it?) and she will make your heart melt with just a smile.

How do you spend your time when not at the church?

Obviously, after describing my family you can see I love spending all my free time with them. I am really just a kid at heart so until my heart grows up…..if it’s fast-paced and fun I’m game, anything from go-cart racing to paint-ball. I also enjoy jogging, singing, dancing, and acting. I love to bake cookies, I love to eat cookies and much of my life is spent on a quest to concoct the world’s greatest cookie recipe. [Disclaimer: I said I enjoy singing, I’m just not very good at it.]

Background information:

I was born in Southern Illinois (about 60 miles east of St. Louis) and spent all of my life there. I graduated from a small rural high school and went on to a local college where I studied journalism and political science. I grew up in a home with two loving parents and two older brothers. We were a family that attended church occasionally, but I never fully realized or understood Gods amazing grace and love until much later in life. I had a good friend who ultimately led me to the Lord and I have been serving Him ever since. God placed a call on my life to minister to children and families when I realized that even one child might grow up never understanding that they had a Father in Heaven who loves them and wants to have a relationship with them. I have been in children’s ministry for over 10 years and continue to search for new and exciting ways to reach children and families for Christ.
